Today’s idiom: “Your eyes are bigger than your stomach”

12 Oct

We have all seen children who want huge portions of food, especially when it is something sweet like cake or ice cream. Of course, often it is far too much for them.

When they can’t finish the food, we say “your eyes are bigger than your stomach” – in other words, they loved the food that they saw (the “eyes”), but their stomach was too small for it.
