Today’s idiom: “Apple of my eye”

Have you noticed that English can be quite fruity? Yes, we have quite a lot of idioms that use fruit, and no fruit is more typically English than the apple. In fact, a few days ago it was “Apple Day”.

If someone says to you, “You’re the apple of my eye”, it means something like “I love you, I’m proud of you, I think you’re wonderful”.
