When you hear people say “it’s just around the corner”, it is seldom in a geographical sense. It usually means that something will happen soon.
For example, you’ve lost your job, your wife has left you, and your dog has run away with a cat. You are very depressed, and tell your friend about all your problems. Your friend might say “sure, it looks bad now, but better days are just around the corner”.
Another example: An election in your country is just two weeks away. Politicians are very active, travelling everywhere and trying to convince people to vote for them, because the election is just around the corner.
