Hägar’s persuasion – “to talk someone into something”

7 Dec

Situation: You have to cook dinner, but you’ve had a hard day and you really don’t want to do it. What should you do? Well, try to persuade someone else to cook tonight! If you succeed in persuading your husband to cook (difficult, I know), you can say “I talked my husband into cooking dinner tonight.”

We also have the opposite expression, “to talk someone OUT OF something”, which means – yes, you guessed it – to persuade someone NOT TO do something that he/she had planned.

When was the last time that you talked someone into something?
